Ulster Hall 2007-08 (Underpinning & Extensions)
One of Belfast's most famous landmarks was being upgraded to incorporate new mulitstorey changing rooms, toilet blocks, shops etc. Portions of the existing structure required underpinning. This was to be carried out in close proximity to neighbouring buildings. Due to the Ulster Hall being a listed building a vibration limit of 5mm/s PPV was prescribed by the consultants, RPS Group. Larsen also piled a crane base for the main contractor John Graham, Dromore. To help keep the job on schedule we used up to three mini piling rigs on site, at any given time.
- Over 200 No. 219mm mini piles to 275kN SWL with up to 3 rigs
- Piles up to 12m in length both inside and outside of the building.
- Vibration monitoring was carried out at all times to a PPV of 5mm/s using our Alarmed Vibration Monitors
- Main contractor - John Graham, Dromore
- Engineers - RPS Group
